QUESTION:
Good Evening: I would like to know if you are changing over to vege diet, how can you get over the meat craving as in chicken vs the vege feeling being lighter? Is there food/s you might eat to have that hearty feeling some get in eating meat/potatoes? Thank you in advance for your response. -jacqueline (using sons internet)
ANSWER:
Entree substitutes for meats help with this need for heavy feeling food. Most of these are made in the forms of roasts and patties, consisting mainly of grains, nuts or legumes. Use protein foods - beans, grains, tofu, and nuts.
On of my favorites (although not vegan veg, rather lacto-ovo--includes dairy products) is Cottage Cheese Loaf. DON'T be turned off by the name or the contents. It tastes great! and has that heavy feeling while eating and after you have eaten it. Hope you like it:
6 eggs, beaten
1 large onion, chopped
2 Tbsp Tartex
1/4 tsp Accent
1 (2 lb) carton cottage cheese
1 c. bread crumbs
4 Tbsp. butter, melted
Mix all ingredients and place in loaf pan. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour until goldern brown.
Wonderful!

RESPONSE:
Good Evening Donn: Your very kind in responding to my question on the hearty feeling on the vege food. I will try your recipe this weekend and let you know how my son and I liked it. I do not know what a tartex is so I will ask the health food store here. We only have one in Michigian where I live. At one time long ago I tried a raw vege diet. I ate only raw none cooked food, herbs and spring water. In two weeks my skin became milky white and truly cleansed. It took discipline no doubt to do this but it felt good. I am trying to slowly go back to vege and not yet which vege diet but good for the health overall.
Take care and will talk to you soon. -Jacqueline
