Leiske's 1937 Nash Lafayette was purchased by Donn's friend, Jeff Hanan, and rescued out of barn in Oregon State. The car was reported to have 70,000 miles on it. There was little rust except for the floor below the back seat, due to a rear window leak. The body was nearly free. Jeff converted car to a street rod.
After the car's drive train was functional, Donn bought the car during one of Jeff's more vulnerable moments. He has since tried to buy the car back, because it now is a very unusual and classy looking street rod, unlike when the car was first advertized in 1937! The car now has the typical rod stuff...350, 350, tilt, PS, PB, and digital gauges. It has power four wheel disc brakes.
This car continually amazes me. In spite of the fact that I own some convertible street rods, this is the ONE car that EVERYBODY loves. This is such an attention-getter that on two occassions we have almost caused major accidents on the Interstate due to people looking at the car and not where they were driving! What fun!
